Burna Boy, Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Tems, and Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay have been nominated for the Best African Music Performance at the second annual Grammy Awards.
Earlier this year, the Recording Academy made history by introducing the Best African Music Performance category, celebrating the continent’s vibrant musical culture. The inaugural award went to 22-year-old South African singer Tyla for her song “Water,” which also made it to the Billboard Hot 100, marking the first time in 55 years a South African artist achieved this feat.
This year, Tyla will not be defending her title. Instead, five remarkable tracks from a diverse group of artists, including a collaboration between American star Chris Brown and Afrobeats sensations Davido and Lojay, will vie for the Golden Gramophone.
