Abia money is working for Abia – Ceekay Igara says as he scores gov. Otti’s first year in office | Read More

The National chairman, southeast of the Labour Party cum the Abia state chairman of the party, Hon. Ceekay Igara has said that governor Alex Otti is delivering on the campaign promises he made under one year of assuming office.

Speaking to Trustbase News, Igara pointed security, Infrastructure, payment of salaries and pensions arrears, as some key campaign promises which the governor has fulfilled to some extent in one year.

He stated that though there are little complaints in, especially areas of payment of pensions and salaries arrears, the governor has been able to solve a herculean task and is still working to finish the job.

“Pension arrears have been paid to an extent and it is still ongoing. He (Otti) has succeeded in solving an algebra..” Igara said

On security, he noted that governor Otti has been able to retouch the security architecture of the state and has erased cases of insecurity especially the dreaded areas of Uturu, Okigwe, Umunneochi, where there existed cases of kidnapping and kill-ings.

Igara lauded the governor for considering to reconstruct some roads abandoned for years, citing the Omuma dual carriageway, Port Harcourt -Aba road, Ohanku, Ngwa road, Obohia, Ossah road , Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Arochukwu road, among others.

Speaking on unemployment, Igara said the governor is not a major employer of labour, rather what he is doing is to create an enabling environment for businesses to strive and in turn, create employment opportunities.

He added that with the proposed reconstruction of the Enyimba hotel and other moribund government enterprises, the governor will end up mopping up unemployed youths off the streets.

He regretted that some top industries left the state because of the harsh economic environment. However, he said there are signals that they want to return back to Abia state to create more employment opportunities for the people.

Igara also assured Abians that the developmental strides they are seeing currently, is going to be the least as governor Alex Otti is bent on making Abia a safe haven.
