Abia Monthly Environmental Sanitation: Monitor, participate in Saturday’s exercise, ABSG tasks Councils Mayor
Abia State Ministry of Environment has informed the citizens , residents and visitors that the Monthly Sanitation Exercise for the Month of September would hold on Saturday September 28, 2024 in the State between the hours of 7am and 10am.
A release signed by the Commissioner Ministry of Environment Mr.Philemon Asonye Ogbonna stipulated that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted except those on essential duties who would be required to present on demand,valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.
The release further directs that people are to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask.
The release required the Mayor of the Local Government Councils, Traditional rulers,Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders,Youth and women organizations in the State to monitor and sensitize their people on the important of the exercise and to participate as well.
“The Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps,the Nigeria security and Civil Defense Corps are to assemble at their usual places of take off for deployment.
“All market,motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed on Friday September 27, 2024 between the hours of 7am and 9am to carry out their own clean-up exercise”, the release partly read.
The release warned that defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted in line with the Abia state Basic Environmental law.
