Bauchi Civil Service Commission Suspends Three Senior Officers Over Misconduct

 

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission has announced the suspension of two Permanent Secretaries and one Chief Executive Officer (Account) due to serious misconduct, effective September 27, 2024.

A press release issued on Monday, by the Information Officer of the commission, Saleh Umar, indicated that the decision was made during the Commission’s first extraordinary sitting of the year, held at its conference hall on Monday.

The suspended officials, Sa’idu Abubakar and Danjuma Garba (Permanent Secretaries), along with Bala Ibrahim Sabo (Chief Executive Officer, Account), were found to warrant disciplinary action based on recommendations and documents submitted by the Office of the State Head of Civil Service.

“The Commission during the session reviewed the recommendations and other available documents on the affected Officers submitted by the Office of the State Head of Civil Service which recommended appropriate disciplinary actions against the Officers.”

The commission invoked a section of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations to facilitate further investigation.

“The Commission suspended them under 0331 of the Bauchi State Public Service Regulations to give room for further investigation since the matter is currently with the relevant authorities.”

The press release further stated that, during the meeting, Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Usman emphasised the importance of adherence to public service regulations and reiterated the unwavering commitment of the commission to sanitising the State Civil Service.

“We urge all State Public/Civil Servants to conduct themselves in accordance with established rules,” he stated.

The suspended officials are affiliated with the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
