Breaking: Akwa Ibom State Government Announces N80,000 Minimum Wage, Constitutes Implementation Committee 

Akwa Ibom State Government has officially announced a new minimum wage of N80,000 for all state government employees. This was disclosed in a press briefing by the state’s Honourable Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong.

The decision was made under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno, who reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing the standard of living for public servants in the state. To ensure the successful implementation of the wage increase, the Governor has set up an Implementation Committee tasked with delivering its report within one month on how the new wage structure will be executed.

**Key Members of the Committee:**

The committee, chaired by the Head of the Civil Service, comprises prominent officials, including:

– Chairman, State Civil Service Commission
– Chairman, Local Government Service Commission
– Permanent Secretaries from the Ministries of Finance, Labour and Manpower Planning, Justice, and Local Government Service Commission, among others
– Directors of Budget and key representatives from Nigeria Labour Congress (Akwa Ibom chapter), Trade Union Congress (Akwa Ibom chapter), and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE)
