DISCLAIMER ON THE ALLEGED ABIA STATE GOVERNMENT’S N10,000 RELIEF FUNDS

The attention of the Abia State Government has been drawn to a publication making the rounds in the social media alleging that His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, OFR has urged the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to open the Financial Relief Support Funds in order to curb the distress in the State due to high level of inflation and economic hardship, adding that every citizen is entitled to receive the sum of N10,000 for 3 months. Nothing can be further from the truth as this is a scam designed to defraud unsuspecting members of the public. This crop of disingenuous scammers also provided a link for people to log on and apply for the said relief fund.

In a statement by the commissioner of information and culture,Prince okey Kanu, the State Government hereby distances itself from the scam publication which is aimed at defrauding gullible individuals of their hard earned money . The state Government therefore advises all Abians and residents to refrain from patronizing the scammers. The link they provided should not be clicked upon as they will use such an opportunity to collect the vital personal and banking details of victims. Members of the public are enjoined to report the perpetrators of this scam to security agencies where their identities are known for necessary action.

The government maintains that it has its proper channels of communication to the people and would always deploy such communication channels when the need rises. Government therefore urges members of the public to ignore the publication about the purported relief funds as it is non- existent .
