Emotional farewell in Kaduna as 15 top Generals retire from Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army (NA) held an emotional farewell for 15 retiring generals on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA) in Kachia, Kaduna State.

The event marked the official pulling-out ceremony for 11 Major Generals and 4 Brigadier Generals from the Army’s prestigious Artillery Corps.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Maj Gen James Myam (rtd) reflected on their long military careers with gratitude, attributing their successful service to divine grace.

He acknowledged the protection they had enjoyed throughout their years in uniform and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership.

Additionally, he extended warm wishes to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, praying for continued wisdom in his leadership of the Nigerian Army.

Maj Gen Myam also shared memories of their early days at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna, where their military journeys began as Officer Cadets.

He urged serving officers to remain steadfast in their loyalty to the Constitution and the democratically elected government, while staying vigilant to ensure national security.

The ceremony was attended by senior military figures, both retired and serving, including former Chief of Army Staff, Maj Gen Alwali Kazir (rtd).

The retiring generals were also joined by family members, friends, and mentors who had supported them throughout their distinguished careers.
