GOV ENO HANDS OVER REMODELED PRIMARY SCHOOL TO EKET COMMUNITY

In furtherance of the Educational advancement component of the ARISE Agenda, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has handed over a newly remodeled Government Primary School, Afaha Atai, Eket Local Government Area to the Community.

Recall that, Governor Umo Eno had in February, 2024, issued a marching order for the immediate commencement of perimeter fencing and remodeling of the school while attending the funeral of Late Deaconess (Mrs) Comfort Akpaette at the premises.

Represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, the Governor emphasized the importance of education, urging parents and children to take advantage of the newly renovated school.

“Let us encourage them to come out and learn because in learning they’ll become successful people tomorrow,” he said.

He described the project as part of his administration’s commitment to educational advancement which he said is a key component of the ARISE Agenda and urged the community to protect the project.

I formally hand over this school with all of the work done to the Community. As you can see, the school is in good shape. Do all you can to ensure that a new project comes to meet this one in good shape.”he said.

In an overview of the project, the MD of Aniesmania Resources Limited, Elder Aniedi Udoh, who shared thrilling updates on the school’s renovation, said the facility provided is in line with modern standard.

According him, “We’ve replaced the old wooden windows and doors with modern iron ones, constructed modern toilet facilities for both males and females, built standard toilets for both males and females, and provided a 24 hours solar-powered borehole, security post, and fence covering over 600 square meters with security wire.

Udoh commended the Governor for providing state-of-the-art facilities that rival those found in private schools, while also creating over 100 job opportunities for local youths.

On her part, the Headmistress of the School, Mrs. Justina Okon Jacob expressed her gratitude to the Governor for transforming the school’s infrastructure, previously plagued by dilapidation. She said the renovation has stopped parents from pulling their kids out due to the old, run-down buildings.

In a vote of thanks, a Primary 5 student of the school, Miss Jenny Akanimo thanked the Governor for changing the structure of the school and giving them exercise books and prayed for God’s unending blessings on the Governor and his administration.

The presentation ceremony featured; presentation of Books from the Ministry of Education led by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Stella Etukakpan, Inspection of the facility and goodwill messages from Community Leaders including the Chairman of the Village Council, Chief Samuel Udobong, Youths President of the Village, Elder Monday James and Women Leader of the Village, Mrs. Eno Tommy who all applauded the Governor for his good works in the education sector and prayed for God’s continuous blessing on him and his administration.
