Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has issued a stern warning that any attempt to arrest his supporters amidst the Local Government Area (LGA) crisis will have to go through him first. He emphasized the expiration of the LGA Chairmen’s tenure and the legality of the current takeover.

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has issued a stern warning that anyone planning to arrest his supporters for taking over the Local Government Area (LGA) Councils in the state will have to go through him first.

After a State Security Council meeting, the governor explained that the tenure of the Local Government Chairmen has expired and, by law, there is no room for an extension.

“If anyone is assuring them anything from anywhere, it will not happen. I am also aware that there are plans to arrest my supporters. Anyone planning to arrest my supporters will first go through me. They are only standing up for their rights, and I will be the first to sacrifice for the state,” Governor Fubara asserted.

The governor’s comments come amid heightened tensions and underscore his commitment to defending his supporters and ensuring that legal and constitutional processes are upheld in Rivers State.
