Growing Talent Capacity Emphasized as Key to Sustainable Development at Abia State Polytechnic 

Talent capacity has been identified as the engine of sustainable development.

The Governor and visitor to Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Dr. Alex Otti, stated this during the first Abia State Polytechnic Distinguished Guest Lecture and conferment of Fellow Award held at the polytechnic. He pointed out that growing talent capacity is crucial for sustainable development.

Governor Otti, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, maintained that growing talent capacity enables individuals, organizations, and nations to innovate, adapt, and thrive in an ever-changing world.

Governor Otti commended the Rector and the Governing Board of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, for the undeniable transformations ongoing at the institution, as well as their dedication to the rebuilding agenda of the present administration.

In his keynote address, the Rector, Dr. Christopher Okoro, said that the distinguished lecture series, which he noted is the first since the inception of the polytechnic, is significant. He added that the institution has reclaimed its rightful place as a major center of academics and research.

Dr. Okoro lauded the Governor and visitor for being the biggest inspiration behind the actualization of the first Distinguished Lecture of the Polytechnic and thanked him for masterminding the total overhaul of the institution’s fortunes.

In his lecture, titled “Growing Talent Capacity: The Key to Sustainable Development,” the distinguished guest lecturer, Chief Obinna Anaba, identified quality education and skill development, among other factors, as veritable tools for growing talent capacity for sustainable development.

The high point of the event was the conferment of the Distinguished Fellow Award on Prof. Barth Nnaji, the founder of Geometric Power Aba, and Chief Obinna Anaba, the guest lecturer.

The event attracted the presence of members of the Federal House of Assembly representing Isiala Ngwa North and South, Chief Ginger Onwusibe, top government functionaries, and captains of industry.
