Hard time awaits individuals and institutions that abuse and violate human rights people living with HIV/AIDS, key population and other vulnerable groups in the state, as their infractions would no longer be swept under the carpet. The Senior Programme Officer, Mr James Atusue made the assertion at the 3 day non residential GC7 Gender and Human Rights Training Programme mounted in Umuahia, Abia State.
He stressed that the thrust of the training workshop was to re-equip and re-train Community Rights Advocates, CRA, Community Based Organisations, CBO, and other support group members on how to respond to violation of Gender Human Rights issues in the state
Mr Atusue used the forum to counsel people whose rights are infringed to instantly get in touch with CRA, CBO and other support groups to do the needful as well as escalate the rights infringement to the right quarter.
He enjoyed the CRA and other trained personnel to step down the training to relevant stakeholders, community members, people living with HIV/AIDS, key population, Adolescent girls and young women and other vulnerable groups in the state.
Community Rights Advocates should equally embark on aggressive sensitisation, education and enlightenment to the public on gender and human rights related issues which includes but not limited to stigma, discrimination and gender based violence.
Contributing, the State Program/ M&E, Abia State, Chief Whyte Ikocha, presented paper on Understanding Gender Human Rights Monitoring, which includes; Data Management Operational Mode, Case Domain, Case Monitoring Methodology, how to identify new cases and risk, among several other.
Chief Ikocha used to occasion to call on Abia State Government to domestic HIV Anti Discrimination Law in the State.
