JUST IN: Vice President Kashim Shettima Returns To Nigeria After UNGA79

Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital after the conclusion of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.

Senator Shettima arrived in Nigeria on Sunday after attending the annual global event where he represented President Bola Tinubu.

Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, who announced the arrival in a short statement on X said the VP will proceed to join President Tinubu to mark some events put together as part of activities commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence anniversary.

“The Vice President, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, had presented Nigeria’s National Statement at the General Debate, as well as engaged in several bilateral meetings and numerous sideline events at the General Assembly,” Nkwocha wrote.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had directed Shettima to lead the Nigerian delegation to the high-level global forum while he focused on addressing pressing domestic issues, including the recent devastating flood disaster.

Politics Nigeria reports that VP Shettima had departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja for New York on Sunday, September 22nd.
