An assistant chief nursing officer of the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, Ilisan Remo, Ogun State, 66-year-old Elizabeth Uruakpa, kidnapped on the 5th of September, 2024, has regained her freedom.
Recall that Uruakpa was kidnapped while she was returning home from a church service when some armed men ambushed her near her house behind the new Ilisan market.
Her abduction was confirmed by the Ogun State Police Command.
Confirming her release in a terse post on X Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola disclosed that the victim has been released and presently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.
SP Odutola who said investigation was ongoing, did not state whether the victim was rescued by the police or whether there was ransom payment before she was freed.
The post did not also say whether her abductors were arrested.
“RELEASE OF A KIDNAP VICTIM: 12th Sept, 2024 following a distress call on the 5th 09 2024, that one Elizabeth Uruakpa a nurse at Babcock UTH, Ilishan, who was abducted, has now been released and presently in the hospital on treatment. Investigation ongoing,” the statement reads.
