About the Job
The position is responsible to propose / define and implement projects as per LafargeHolcim standards by anticipating & controlling the available resource as well as: To operate and maintain the PMR schemes for all locations within Lafarge Readymix Nigeria and as far as possible standardize processes, working procedures and materials across all locations, to manage the Projects functionality by: planning, coordinating and implementing the various country Project jobs in a sustainable manner and ensuring that standard processes are developed and maintained.
What You’ll Be Doing
Safety:
Ensure full compliance of the plants and workshops with Lafarge safety standards.
Integrates safety & environmental issues into all projects by enforcing statutory regulations regarding safety, health, and welfare of projects work force i.e. Inspection of all project tools, machines and instruments used by contractors to achieve zero LTI.
Regular VPC conducted in Project & existing plants and work with teams and individuals to identify solutions to issues identified.
Act as a role model to peers and subordinates with regards to safety management and behaviours.
Project specifics:
Following initial briefing expands the project to include preliminary layouts of plant and support facilities, consults with stakeholders from the key departments to confirm agreement / modify scheme before preparing a final project scope,
BOQs , technical specification and layout for the project. All linked to a preliminary budget for sign off by ExCom members.
Meets with potential suppliers / contractors, as identified via procurement department and ensures quotations received cover the full scope of works and that the proposed contractors exhibit the technical competence to complete the works in line with LRN standards.
Technically evaluates offers for timely and specific selection of contractor / supplier and carries out a review of the initial budget and highlights any significant changes.
Ensures by planning, coordinating and consultation the availability of all project resources and equipment necessary for the best implementation of projects.
Coordinates on regular basis with suppliers and experts for installation and commissioning of equipment. & arranges for end users’ training for efficient performance &; use of the equipment.
Ensures to meet the scheduled milestones by planning, monitoring, coordinating, supervising country projects and ensures all stakeholders are kept briefed in a timely manner.
Analyses project running costs by using the appropriate cost monitoring tools and takes corrective measures to ensure that the budget is met.
Coordinates and supervises commissioning of projects to ensure that the performance criteria are met & are in accordance with the specifications and collects final sign offs from stakeholders for the same.
Ensures that all new plants are entered into the PMR scheme and a full inspection and maintenance regime is tailored to the new location and it is communicated to the Maintenance coordinator / Hub team as part of the plant handover scheme.
Carries out a post project evaluation and updates standard templates and equipment specifications, as required, before submitting a written review to ExCom members.
Preventative Maintenance Regime:
Carry out monthly Medium & Long-range reviews of the PMR scheme (3 to 9 months), identifying requirements for 3rd parties and or planned downtime, ensure Maintenance / 3rd party resources are identified and contracts in place with LPO’s (where necessary) to ensure that confirmed time slots are secured.
Communicate these arrangements down to Maintenance coordinator / Hub teams 3 months in advance and ensure that Planned downtime periods are secured.
Prepare, review and asses the business PMR schemes on a quarterly basis and use incoming Best Practises, findings from internal Unplanned reviews and Legal / Corporate requirements to keep the scheme updated.
Manage all SAP related admin with regards to:
Additions or deletions from Technical Structure
Additions or deletions to the PMR scheme
WC personnel changes
Review all incoming inspections and reviews from 3 rd parties, along with the maintenance coordinator / Hub teams and ensure defects identified are communicated and closed in a timely manner.
Carry out weekly reviews of the maintenance reports from SAP and address any areas of concern (partial / uncompleted inspections) via the Maintenance coordinator & Hub teams
Ensure Maintenance coordinator / Hub teams maintain KPI’s and that these reflect actual performance. Set realistic unplanned downtime targets by plant / asset, with the aim to reduce the entire business to a zero level
Complete on site PMR reviews, by carrying out workplace inspections and measuring outcomes against the documented inspections on site, work with the Maintenance coordinator and Area Operations coordinators local teams to close any gaps identified.
Work alongside Inventory coordinator to ensure that centralised stores reflect business requirements and needs, where new inventory items are required set maximum&; minimum stock levels for the same.
Manage contractor’s performance by coordinating with end users and addressing any issues identified in a timely manner.
Manage all requirements for major shutdown projects within the business, using the same processes as used for Project works.
General:
Pro-active approach towards interaction between in-house departments.
Establish and manage relations with independent contractors, vendors and assists in negotiations to secure best possible rates for their products and services
Convey and assist in negotiating with public and private providers as their services may be needed
Carries out any reasonable request from management irrespective of its scope within their current role.

Requirements
What we are looking for:
B.Sc in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics Engineering or Technology
Minimum of 4 years working experience in construction or manufacturing industry
Good knowledge about occupational safety and health
Recognised qualification in Health & Safety management
Recognised qualification in preventative maintenance
IT skills & use of applications e.g. MS Project manager, AutoCAD, SAP etc.
Good knowledge of occupational health and safety
Demonstrated technical/professional knowledge
Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Behavioural and/or Managerial competencies:
Demonstrate high level of good inter-personal relationship
Ability to manage a variety of cross-functional team members
Capacity to build effective teams and drive for results
Competent in problem solving, team building, planning and decision making
