Many Nigerians Cooking Unhealthily Because We Neglected LPG – Energy Expert

President of the Nigerian Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Marketers, Oladapo Olatunbosun, says most Nigerians engage in means of cooking that are detrimental to their health because for many years the Nigerian government neglected liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

Speaking on Channels Television’s special 64th Independence programme, Channels Forum, on Tuesday, Olatunbosun said the lack of access to clean means of cooking increases the medical bills of most Nigerians.

“I think the most essential aspect of energy that is critical to human beings is cooking energy, how do we process our food?” Olatunbosun queried.

“And unfortunately in this part of the world, we neglected that aspect and the majority of Nigerians are cooking with means that are not preferable and that are not healthy for them.

“They waste time, it shortens their lifespan, they increase medical bills because we don’t have access to a clean and the most acceptable means of cooking and that is LPG.”
