‘Notorious Boko Haram Terrorist’ Surrenders To Troops In Borno – MNJTF

 

A “notorious Boko Haram terrorist” has surrendered to troops in Borno State, the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has said. 

The Chief Military Information Officer of the MNJTF Olaniyi Osoba in a Saturday statement described the move as a “significant development in the ongoing battle against terrorism in the Lake Chad region”.

He said the “notorious Boko Haram terrorist identified as Bochu Abacha has surrendered to troops of Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) deployed in Kukawa Local Government of Borno State”.

Osoba said Bochu is a “key figure in several terrorist operations admitted to being a notorious Boko Haram terrorist who has participated in several Boko Haram/ ISWAP Terrorists operations along the Mongunu – Baga axis. He confessed to having surrendered due to the intense operation of the MNJTF and lack of interest. He disclosed to have escaped from a Boko Haram camp in the Mussaram with his weapon”.

Some of the items recovered from him were one AK 47 Rifle and a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition,one mobile phone, N32,500) among others.

“He is presently providing valuable intelligence to the authority,” Osoba said.

Meanwhile, troops in another operation in Gubio ambushed some terrorists, killing one of them. He said they were conveying large logistics supply in three Toyota vehicles under the cover of darkness.

During a gun duel, Osoba said, “One terrorist was killed while others fled into nearby forest due to superior fire power of troops abandoning a large logistics supply. Items recovered include three Toyota vehicles loaded with assorted food stuffs, other sundry items and the sum of Two Thousand Naira(N2,000)”.
