The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), under the leadership of National President Bishop Francis Wale Oke, has announced a 40-day period of prayer and fasting starting January 6, 2025, calling on Nigerians to seek divine intervention for the nation’s relief and prosperity.
The campaign will conclude with a national prayer gathering in Abuja on February 14, 2025.
Announcing the initiative on Thursday, Bishop Oke, accompanied by PFN Deputy President Archbishop John Praise Daniel, urged all Nigerians to join in prayer, saying, “In the Bible, when judgment was pronounced on Nineveh, the king and the people cried out for mercy, and God heard their prayers.
We believe that the same God who delivered Nineveh is alive today and will hear our cry.”
The prayer campaign will take place ahead of PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference scheduled for February 10-14 in Abuja, themed “The Rebirth of a Great Nation: Nigeria is Great.”
Reflecting on the nation’s current state, Bishop Oke compared Nigeria to a mother in labour, saying, “Nigeria is in a painful process, like a mother about to deliver. But we believe that a new Nigeria will emerge.”
He stated that the country’s challenges require collective responsibility and cooperation from both citizens and leaders.
On his part, Archbishop Daniel said, “No matter the challenges, Nigeria is on the brink of achieving greatness. We foresee a future where Nigeria becomes a model for the world. We believe that, through prayer and fasting, God will heal our land.”
The biennial conference will feature prominent Nigerians addressing pressing national issues and providing insights into collaborative solutions for the country’s challenges.
