The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) has announced a limited-time offer for a complimentary conversion which is available exclusively for the first 50 commercial vehicles.
This was disclosed in a statement by the PCNGI on Friday.
According to the statement, the opportunity will be presented on a first-come, first-served basis, adding that “we encourage prompt action to secure one of the available spots.”
To qualify for the offer, the statement noted, vehicles must pass a mandatory inspection, and successful applicants will benefit from the innovative PCNGI technology, designed to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs.
The offer is taking place in five states, namely, Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Ogun and Oyo.
It will commence on Saturday, September 14th, 2024 from 3-6 pm.
“Don’t miss this chance to upgrade your fleet and capitalize on significant savings – act now and schedule your inspection to secure your complimentary PCNGI conversion,” the statement reads.
The PCNGI initiative is one of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to easing the impact of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians by reducing energy costs.
At the establishment of the initiative in August 2023, the presidency said the initiative was poised to revolutionise the transportation landscape in the country, targeting over 11,500 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-enabled vehicles and 55,000 CNG conversion kits for existing Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)-dependent vehicles.
“Sequel to the removal of the PMS subsidy and the full deregulation of the petroleum products market, the price of PMS has increased significantly.
“As such there is a need to consider alternative sources of fuel, primarily CNG and EV for vehicles,” the Pi-CNG wrote on its website.
