REP. IDEM RECEIVES AKWA IBOM COMMUNITY, ABUJA, TO BE BESTOWED ICONIC LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
The member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Public Procurement, Rep. Unyime Idem, is to bag the “Iconic Legislator of the Year Award” by Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja.
The award will be bestowed on him during the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja Cultural Festival, 2024, scheduled for November 23, 2024, at Akwa Ibom House, Central Business District, Abuja, where he has been invited and is expected to be the Special Guest of Honour.
Rep. Idem was notified of the award during a courtesy visit by the President, Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, Barr. Aniefiok Ibah, who led a delegation to his office in Abuja.
Barr. Ibah explained that the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal lawmaker has been chosen for the award based on his sterling performance since being elected into the National Assembly.
“This is the highest award given by the Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, and you are the first person from Annang extraction to be honoured with the Iconic Legislator of the Year award.
“The choice of you is based on your sterling performance since your assumption of duty as federal lawmaker, and you’ve been representing Akwa Ibom interest in the National Assembly.”
“You’ve delivered so much to the people of Akwa Ibom and we’re so proud of you. You’ve facilitated the employment of many Akwa Ibom sons and daughters into the Federal Civil Service.”
“We’re particularly impressed with your training of Akwa Ibomites abroad and this ranks as the biggest reason why we’re honouring you. We also want to plead with you to include Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, in your overseas training initiative as well as facilitate employment opportunities for our members too,” Barr. Ibah appealed.
Responding, Rep. Unyime Idem, thanked Akwa Ibom Community, Abuja, for finding him worthy of the honour, saying the recognition will spur him to do more for the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria, and endorsed the 2024 Cultural Festival.
The federal lawmaker also promised to include the Abuja community in his overseas training and job facilitation plan when the opportunities present themselves, reiterating his commitment to use his goodwill to facilitate as many employments as possible to Akwa Ibom people, “with the hope that in the next 10 to 15 years, Akwa Ibomites will climb to managerial positions in government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.”
