Although the swearing in ceremony and formalities of various chairmen of councils and their deputies across the thirty one local government areas in Akwa Ibom State by HE Pastor Umo Eno may have come and gone, the memories of the momentous occasion may still linger on for a long while.
One striking feature that made the Eket council boss, Rt Hon Akaninyene Tommey Ikot, the cynosure of all eyes at the Banquet hall was his attractive mode and style of dressing.
Resplendent in his cultural and native attire, the Afia Nsit born political whiz kid with Mkpisong Ekid traditional title already in his kitty, really showcased the rich cultural heritage of resilient Eket people to the whole world. This is indeed a clear testament of the fact that the rave of the moment, certainly knows his onions and is rearing to make a lasting legacy at the third tier of government.
To also drive home the fact that Alaba as fondly called, is the man of the people, his first port of call after officially taking his oath of office, was the palace of Eket monarch, His Royal Majesty, Edidem E C D Abia to pay homage and received royal blessings, as he takes another shot as Eket council boss.
No wonder the immediate past state helmsman, Deacon Udom Emmanuel during the twilight of his administration , handed him over to the paramount ruler of Eket, saying that the state was not done yet with the services of the stormy petrel and the new kid on the block of Eket politics.
