Human Rights activist Shehu Sani has criticized the unequal outrage over the killing of security personnel in the South East compared to other regions, particularly the North.

He pointed this out while condemning the killing of Seven policemen in Zamfara on Thursday at Magarya village in Zurmi Local Government Area. Among the victims were a member of the Zamfara State Community Guards, also known as Askarawan Zamfara and four residents of the village.

The former Senator representing Kaduna Central warned that the atrocities of the criminals must not go unpunished.

“The killing of 7 Policemen & other civilians in Zamfara is condemnable. The atrocities of this criminals must not go unpunished. I believe we will triumph over terror. But it’s sad that the killing of our security agents only gets a louder outrage when it happens in the south east.”

Confirming the incident to Daily Trust, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, said the bandits numbered about 300 and stormed the village on motor bikes.

“They surrounded our men and opened fire on them, thereby killing seven of them and injuring several others.

“The bandits were not happy with our men who prevented them from carrying out their heinous act for over two years now.

“Since the deployment of police to the area, the bandits could not have a chance to attack the village.”

It was gathered that the bandits invaded the village at 5:10 am when the residents were preparing for the morning prayer. They burnt two houses, a car and many silos.
