Shettima briefs Tinubu in his office

Vice-President Kashim Shettima has briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the state of affairs of the country during his two-week leave.

The Vice President also briefed the President on his trip to Sweden where he represented the President.

Pictures released by the State House on Monday showed the Vice President in the President’s office, with both leaders discussing.

On October 2, President Tinubu departed Abuja for the United Kingdom for a two-week vacation, part of his yearly leave.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had said “He will use the two weeks as a working vacation and a retreat to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms.”

Before the President returned to the country, the Vice President also travelled on a 2-day visit to Sweden.

Stanley Nkwocha, Spokesman to the Vice President, in a statement said Shettima would engage in high-level bilateral talks with key government officials, including a meeting with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and the Swedish Prime Minister.

On October 19, 2024, the President returned to the country after a two-week vacation in the United Kingdom (UK) and France.

Tinubu had asked Shettima to lead Nigerian delegation to Commonwealth Summit in Samoa, but he could not make it as a result of an incident which led to the grounding of his aircraft for repair in New York.

Shettima had returned to Nigeria while a delegation of ministers attended the summit.
