Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu urges all Abians to unite behind Governor Alex Otti, praising his developmental strides and vision for a better Abia.

Chief Dr. Emeka Kalu, President and CEO of ECK Foundation, has called on all Abians to rally behind Governor Alex Chioma Otti, emphasizing the governor’s significant strides in transforming the state. Kalu urged politicians, business leaders, academics, and public and private sector workers to set aside political differences and support the governor’s efforts.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Kalu highlighted the importance of unity in moving Abia State forward. He acknowledged the role of opposition in a balanced democracy but warned against toxic and antagonistic opposition, which he said would only distract the governor from implementing people-friendly policies.

“Dr. Alex Chioma Otti has demonstrated the political will to change the narrative for Abia State,” Kalu stated. “Through his actionable programs and policies, he has elevated Abia from the lower rungs of the ladder in Nigeria to becoming a reference point for many states. Abia has never had it this good. Any politician who believes in the good of the people should set aside political differences and support the performing governor.”

Kalu praised Otti’s infrastructural developments, which have made Abia an attractive destination for both local and foreign investors. He also commended the governor’s policies on internally generated revenue (IGR), responsible investment, and the abolition of touting in revenue collection, which have brought peace and stability to the state.

“Governor Alex Otti has broken the jinx of salary payments to workers and has put smiles on the faces of our pensioners. Aba is gradually regaining its old glory, and other cities are seeing improvements in security and infrastructure. We must encourage him to do more,” Kalu added.

As the Convener of the Global Initiative for Good Governance (GIGG), Kalu noted that Abia State had lost focus in delivering democratic dividends to the people until the current administration brought renewed hope. He stressed the need for constructive and non-toxic criticism to ensure the administration remains focused on its developmental agenda.

“The emergence of this administration with its prospects of hope must be supported. Constructive criticism is welcome, but it must be done in a way that does not derail the administration from its focus on development,” Kalu concluded.
