The air conditioned work station houses 15 sets of brand new desktop computer systems, printers, scanners and internet facility, all powered by a 10KVA solar power system.

According to the director of legal services, Mrs Ajike Uwaoma, the work station will speed up the process of the discharge of justice and for now, it is only open to lawyers working at the ministry.

“We have fully digitized laws of Abia state. Any law you want , you only need a click and you’ll get it.

“The work station, is a one stop shop where lawyers can comfortably walk in with all the facilities available for use” she said.

Asked if outsiders can access the digitalized laws outside the work station, she said;

” for now, you have to access them from the work station; it is connected to the global library, but you have to subscribe at a fee”.

Speaking to ALL FACTS NEWSPAPER (AFNEWS), the Attorney general stated that the issue of data risk and the love of the governor for digitization, compelled him to spearhead the project.

“Any lawyer, or citizen, anywhere in the world, would have access to the laws of Abia State readily on the click of a button . What it does for the state is that it improves our ranking in the ease of doing business , make access to justice better and it makes our state more peaceful and progressive ” Uwanna stated.

He appreciated governor Alex Otti for his show of support and attention to the judiciary to ensure that they are effective.

Speaking also to AFNEWS after the commissioning, Mrs Otti stated that the digitization is in line with the governor’s vision of putting Abia state first.

” we are hoping that this will be a precursor to other departments and ministries in the state that will also digitalize their job”.

After Lagos state, Abia state is the second to digitize it’s laws.
