Army rescues pregnant Chibok school girl, her children in Borno | read more 

Operatives of the Nigerian Army have rescued another victim of the Chibok school girls’ kidnapping in Borno state.

According to a release by the Department of Army Public Relations, 5 months pregnant Lydia Simon was rescued along with her three children by troops conducting Operation Desert Sanity III, around Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of the State.

The release read in parts:

 

“Lydia, who was on serial number 68 among the abducted missing Chibok Secondary School girls, was rescued along with her three children by troops conducting Operation Desert Sanity III, around Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Lydia was five months pregnant at the time of her rescue and claimed to be from Pemi Town in Chibok,” the statement read.

So far, out of the 271 students that were kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents,  57 girls escaped shortly in 2014, 103 were released through the intervention of the Federal Government, 20 others were freed by the efforts of the state government while 92 students are still in captivity.
