Otti Bestows Mother’s Legacy At Clifford University.
Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has said that he will build infrastructure and enact policies that will raise education in Abia to global standard.
He was speaking as a special Guest of honor at the launching of Clifford University international journal of development studies, an event which preceded the 4th convocation ceremony of the institution, held recently in Owerrinta, Abia State.
He explained that he will do what is expected of him to support tertiary institutions in the state to produce graduates of global standard.
The Governor, who was represented by his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu requested for a piece of land through his foundation to construct ultra modern E-Library in memory of his late mother, Shepherdess Rose Otti.
He praised the leadership of the school for their standard, congratulated them for their successes and urged them to be good ambassadors of the state with more credit. He encouraged the school management not to rest on their oars in expanding the frontiers of the institution. Otti congratulated the graduands and awardees urged them to remain good representatives.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chimezie Omeonu explained that the University took off with only 86 students, but today has over 1400 students in various accredited courses. The school, he said is sustained by the staff, students, researches and the alumni, and challenged the graduates to uphold the tenets, moral and spiritual standard of the school.
The special Guest of honor, wife of former governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, who unveiled and presented the journal during the launching made cash donation, with a car key which she said her husband used to support the law faculty of the school.
Victory Emenike and Dinah Anthony emerged joint over all best students of the school with a CGPA of 4.79, while the University bestowed an honorary doctorate degree of Human capital development award on Elder Bitrus Nabasu, a retired Federal permanent Secretary. Dr Ezebunwa Ubani, who was the Chairman of ceremony thanked all who graced the occasions and urged the graduands to remain beacons of hope.
